Happy New Year! Another year is wrapping up, and we wanted to take this
opportunity to say hello to you all, and send you our best wishes for
a healthy and happy new year. And if you've been wondering what FGC's
been up to these last twelve months, well, you're in luck!...
|
Show stats:
In 2005, FGC played 105 shows in 21 states, from Vermont
to Alabama to Colorado and all points in between. (For those of
you keeping track, keep in mind that while the total is a few shy
of last year's, the first show of 2005 wasn't until Feb 18!) We
also played summer festivals in IL, MN, WI, NY, IN, and PA,
highlights of which included a triumphant return to Summer Camp
and a headlining slot at Farmapalooza. |

New Van: FGC
adopted a gently used Chevy Astro in March. The 'Stro chugged through
the Colorado mountains and plowed through Mid-Atlantic snow like
a champ, and the band looks forward to many more years of cushy
mobile comfort.

New Website:
FGC's new dot com was designed in house by Janis and Adam and was
unveiled in April 2005. The new site carried over the extensive
archive of the old site, and introduced popular new features like
FGC
Radio, the Tour
Blog, Featured
Photo Albums, and FGC's message
boards (come say hello!). The site is updated weekly with things
like news
updates, Ice
Picks, tour
dates, and more. Since its launch, the new site has logged about
15,000 visitors! |

New Merch:
Added to FGC's clothing line this year were girlie tees,
tank tops, long-sleeves, and new color options for the original
shirts. We also added seven choice shows to the official live
CD collection (only $1 each!), and made tour posters and stickers
available for sale on the
website. |

Random Notes:
2005 held a few other notable moments for the band. This year's
annual Thanksgiving Benefit and Halloween Show were
again great successes. FGC had some fun shows at Midwest colleges
like Carleton and UW-Oshkosh, and hosted a Wednesday
residency in May at hometown venue, Wise Fools Pub. The band
also kept itself in the public eye with articles in Chicago's
RedEye, jambands.com, and various local newspapers in Vermont, Alabama,
and Illinois to name a few. (Read 'em here) |

FGC pushes on:
The band overcame a couple major obstacles this year. Most notable
was Jordan's vocal chord surgery in January, which brought
on the band's six-week hiatus at the beginning of the year, and
an extensive ongoing recovery process for Jordan. We are very happy
to have Jordan back at the mic in full force. Also of note was a
small accident in February which spun the band's car and trailer
into a ditch off an icy highway in New York. Note to selves:
Tour south in the winter! |

WHAT'S UP FOR 2006?
Looking forward, FGC has big plans for a tremendously
busy start to 2006. The band will jump start '06 touring with a trip
down south in mid-January, and plans to visit the East Coast
and Rocky Mountains later in the spring are already in the works
(click
here for confirmed dates). Of course FGC will be doing its heaviest
touring right here in the Midwest, riding the growing wave of
support the band has found in the area's many college towns with as
much fervor as ever. With a great deal of excitement for an aggressive
touring schedule, rapidly growing crowds everywhere the band travels,
and a HUGE announcement or two waiting in the wings, 2006 is
set to be a tremendous year in the world of FGC - we can't wait!
